And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people

The Savior's suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane was described as being sorrowful, heavy, falling on His face, pleading, "nevertheless thy will be done," shows obedience, "there appeared and angel unto Him from heaven strengthening Him," agony, earnestly, "sweat was as it were great drops of blood."

His suffering is described in Mosiah 3:7 as temptations, pain of body, hunger, thirst and fatigue, even more than man can suffer.

In Alma 7:11-13, it says that He took upon Him the pains and the sicknesses of the people. He loosed the bands of death which did bind His people. He did this so that the word may be fulfilled, and in doing so could blot out the sins and trangressions of thw world.

In D&C 19:16-19, it says that He did so, so that people would not suffer if they would repent. He trembled, because of pain for us and even so, glory to God.

1. The disciples tried to stay awake, but then fell asleep while the Savior was praying. In Matthew 26:41, Christ taught that one should watch and pray lest they not enter into temptation. D&C 10:5 relates to this, because it says to come off conqueror of Satan, one must pray always.

2. From those scriptures, what motivated the Savior to drink the bitter cup was “glory be to the Father,” and being swallowed up in His will.

3. Thinking about it in a literal way, nevertheless means never what I say next will be less than what I s aid prior; never the less will what you will be compared to mine, so I will do thy will no matter what. In each of these accounts the Savior initially asked for the bitter cup being taken from Him. Next, He said “nevertheless, not as I will, but thine be done.”To submit to the Father’s will no matter what the outcome might be means to always seek for His will, to do what He asks of you at all times no matter what.
I was not perfect at it, and it took me a while to finish it off completely, but I was in a relationship with someone for almost a year, and on and off for about three, and I was prompted to break up with him. It was pretty hard giving it up, but after looking back without a doubt that is what needed to be done. It was most definitely one of the best things to eve happen to me, even though at the time I thought differently.

4. In Luke 22:44 His prayer changed to a more earnest prayer. When I am suffering, I do pray more earnestly. It always makes a difference. I feel like if I’m crying or something, by the end of the prayer I’m not!

5. What is there not to say about Christ suffering in Gethsemane? There is so much. I guess that now that I am older and have experienced more repentance and learned more about Him as my Savior, I appreciated it a lot more and it hurt a lot more. Knowing that what He did was the greatest act of love ever known, and that He did it for me and everyone I love even though it was the most painful thing makes me feel grateful enough to do better, and knowing that He pushed through it even though it hurt makes me feel that I can make it through things a million times smaller than that. I love Him and am eternally in debt.

By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

According to John 13:34-35, others can know if we are disciples of Jesus Christ if we love one another.

If someone is mocked or ridiculed for the way that they dress, a disciple of Christ would perhaps offer them a hug, ears to listen, and be a friend to let them know that they are loved. If the clothes are worn or ragged, a disciple of Christ would offer that person their clothes or new ones. If they are being mocked for what it looks like, perhaps a disciple of Christ would help them have confidence in what they wear.

If someone new were to arrive in church, a disciple of Christ would have that person know how welcome they are, which is a lot! They would not be afraid to introduce themselves or greet them with sweet warmness and love. A disciple of Christ would ask them questions and if they are all alone, offer to sit next to them maybe.

Do people know that I am a disciple of Christ by the way i treat them?
No, wel I would hope so, but I am not perfect. Shpwing Christ like love towards others is hard sometimes, and in Moroni 7 it says that to gain such love, one must pray to receive it before one can show it. I am thinking of two people, actually to work on showing it better to. I am thinking of my little brother and sister. The steps I need to take would be to:

-Pray to gain more of that love
-Try to understand them
-Try to have more patience with them
-Tell them i love them every night before I go to sleep
-Ask them if they need anything throughoutthe day
-Give them hugs!
-Get to know them more

Have a great week!

"These are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name."

Here is a list of key events that took place in the last days of the Savior's mortal ministry.

Day One: Jesus arrives at Jerusalem
Rode through the city gates on palms and praises
Went to the Temple and took notes
Day Two: Went again to the Temple and challenged the Jews' leadership
Cleared the Temple courts which were used as markets and made it clear that His house is a house
               of prayer
Day Three: Was challenged by the Jewish leaders in the Temple
Taught them paribles and principles and denounced them as hypicrites
From now on, only taight to His twelve
One of Jesus' own disciples offered to betray Him
Day Four: Jesus knew of this plot
               Stayed outside of the city
Day Five: Introduced the sacrament
Saw His death and indicated who would betray Him
               Offered His intercessory prayer
Went into the Garden of Gethsemane and the atonement began
He bled from every pore and suffered beyond comprehension for us
A band led by Judas took the submitting Christ away to an illegal trial
Day Six: Indicted of crimes from both the Jewish and Roman governments; of blaspheme and sedition
               death sentence pronouned
                Jesus was crucified
He voluntarily gave up His spirit
Before nightfall, His body was removed into a tomb by two reverring disciples.
Day Seven (Sabbath): Jesus Christ remained in the tomb
Day of the Resurrection: Jesus Christ emerged alive form the tomb and appeared before Mary

I would just like the bare my testimony that I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Before we came to earth, He volunteered to die for us, so that we could return to our Father in Heaven. I love Jesus Christ so much. What He did for me and for all of us is beyond comprehension, and I am so grateful. and forever in debt.

"Thou shalt have treasure in heaven..."

Hello! This week, the topic is on Earthly and Heavenly rewards, which covers Matthew 19:16-30 and 20:1-16. What is going on in Matthew 19:16-30 is a wealthy young man asking Jesus Christ how to get into the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus Christ explains that he must follow the commandments. The young man then asks what he lacks, and Christ says "If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me." The young man walked away sorrowful. Indications on why the young man decided not to follow the Savior include his many riches. Matthew 6:19-24 helps to further explain his choice by two verses, specifically. Verse 21 says "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." In verse 24, it says that "No man can serve two masters...Ye cannot serve God and mammon." Obviously, and sadly, that young man's heart was with his treasures. He served mammon, and even though he had a desire to serve God, his heart was not in it, and therefore, was not possible.

Blessings the Savior promised to those who make sacrifices to come to Him include receiving "an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life." (Matt. 19:29)

We hear the wise words time and time again to have Christ as one's rock and foundation. I personally picture a house being built. If the foundation was Christ, nothing not of Christ could be built upon it; only good, and Christlike things. Of course, I am not perfect, but to live a life with Christ first, would mean to attempt to do that. This would mean to try every day to make sure that the things in my life are for Him and because of Him. Something that would help me remember to put Him first is to remember that, that He is first. Nothing else can or should come before it, and that I need to strive to be as Christ like as I can be every day.

This is a chart roughly describing the situation in the parable found in Matthew chapter twenty.

From this parable, we learn that if we are going to serve in God's Kingdom, we will have the same reward in the end, no matter when one started serving. This can comfort converts in the church, because even though they joined later than others, it makes no difference, just as long as they made it. If someone felt it unfair to pay each of the laborors seperately, I would explain to them that very few people are born into this church, very few people were called to labor in the early morning. Then I would explain that what would not be fair is if the people who were happened to be found later in life to be taught the gospel, or the people in the marketplace, automatically had a disadvantaged to making it back to their Heavenly Father, or being called to work in the viniard, just because they happened to be found later than others.

"Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it." Matt 13:46

What does it mean to be a disciple of Christ?
   -To be giving of others
-To take no thought of earthly things and lay up treasures in Heaven
-To seek the Kingdom of God
-To have loins girded about (to be prepared with good principles)
-To have the light of Christ burning
   -To have faith in Christ
-To love Jesus Christ more than anything or anyone else in life
-To bear own cross, to carry own burdens and follow Christ
-To forsake all that he hath
Christ said about counting the costs to follow Him, that if we cannot forsake all that we have, we cannot be His disciples.

I am not going to lie, I can be pretty self-serving and self-centered at times. I don't think that I am anything amazing, but I unintentionally don't listen to others and I compare myself to others sometimes. I also care too much about little things that don't even matter which tends to stress me out or make me a little angry at times. If I were to forsake all that I have and truly focus on Christ in all things, my life would change. If I were to not care about minor incidents and just let go, I would have so much more time and heart to do better things. In all, trying to serve Christ and my Heavenly Father and having Christ as my rock and foundation, striving to obey and follow His teachings, I would be less stressed, less angry, less non-forgiving, and more others, more close to Christ.

To ultimately be a disciple of Christ, similar to what Elder Bednar once said, means to give all that you are and all that you will become to Christ.

Walking on Water

1. When the disciples first saw Jesus walking on water, they were troubled, thinking it was a spirit, then were frightful.

2. Peter's response when he bif Jesus to let him walk on the water toward Him indicated that Peter was faithful.

3. According to Matthew 14:30, peter began to sink due to a sudden lack of faith; he was afraid.

4. When Peter began to sink, he cried to Jesus to save Him. The word in these verses that describe the Savior's timing of His stretched forth hand is "immediately."

5. D&C 88:67  illustrates the principle of having an eye single to the Lord and when that happens one is filled with light. It relates to paul walking on water, because he had an eye single to the Lord and had faith in him. It was when he doubted that the wholeness of light left him. I can relate this to my lifeand my own trials by focusing on Christ, knowing that He can carry me through my storms as long as i have faith in Him.
