"...and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father."

First, the attempt to tell the difference between the Premortal Savior, or the Savior before His earthly ministry, and the Mortal Savior, or the Savior during His earthly ministry. Second, some of the names He is known by. We will cover some names uncommon, such as "The Word," along with names well known, such as "The Christ."

 1. The Premortal and Mortal Savior (John 1:1-14 and John 17:1-5)

Five truths of the Premortal Savior:
                1. He was with God before the world was created (John 1:1)
                2. He created the world in which we live. In fact, everything that was made, was through Him. (John 1:3,10)
                3. He held glory with God, our Heavenly Father, before the world was created (John 17:5)
                4. He held authority, as did our Heavenly Father. (John 1:1)
                5. He was there in the beginning, the first born Son of God. (John 1:1)

Five truths of the Mortal Savior:
                1. He came into the world as the light of the world. "In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehendeth it not." (John 1: 4-5)
                2. "The world knew Him not." "His own received Him not."  He was despised and rejected. (John 1:10-11 -> Isaiah 53:3)
                3. He was full of grace and truth (John 1:14)
                4. He gave as many as received Him and believed on His name, the power to become Sons of God through baptism. (John 1: 12-13)
                5. He glorified His Father. (John 17:4)

2. A few names of the Savior

Christ -

Messiah -

Actually, let's combine both the sacred name of Christ, and Messiah. These names are equivalent to eachother, and both signify the Anointed One, or one specifically chosen "of the Father to be His personal representative in all things pertaining to the salvation of mankind." (Bible Dictionary)

Jehovah - God of Israel, "Unchangeable one,"  "The Eternal."

Immanuel - Means God with us. It is a sign of God's deliverance of His children.

The Word - Through Christ, God's word was put into effect. (Institute Manual) So in John 1:1, when it says "In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, and the Word was God," Jesus Christ was in the beginning, the first born Son of God, He was with God, the Messenger of the Covenant, and He had the authority of God. Jesus is the Christ and I love Him :)
